Browse Elko People Directories

Finding a current staff member, property owner, business contact, or former Elko resident calls for a different kind of directory in each case. The people directories serving Elko range from college and school rosters to county land indexes and library collections. Some let anyone browse names online. Others work by address, organization, or a focused request to the office that keeps the source. Browse Elko directories by first deciding whether the person is tied to a public office, school, parcel, company, permit, or past community event. That choice leads to a more useful official source and helps separate people who share a name.

Compare Elko People Directories

Elko people directories do not live in one database. Great Basin College and the school district list current institutional contacts, while city and county sites publish officials through department pages and public rosters. Land systems list owners and parties to deeds. Business filings and license boards connect names with organizations or credentials. For an earlier generation, yearbooks, newspapers, oral histories, cemetery files, and physical directories become more useful than a current web search.

Start with the keeper tied to the person’s role. A school name points to an education directory. A parcel points to the assessor, GIS, or recorder. A company name calls for business filings and the relevant license board. A year, former address, mine, railroad, or ranch can move the work to a historical collection. A name match is only a lead, so compare a title, campus, parcel key, business ID, date, or other firm detail before deciding that two entries refer to the same person.

Browse GBC's Elko Directory

The Great Basin College faculty and staff directory is the richest current institutional people directory in Elko. It is an alphabetical browse, not a form with many search boxes. Choose an A to Z link, scan the entries, or use the browser’s find command for a surname or title. The separate department route helps when a name is unknown but a program or center is known.

A GBC staff entry can contain the person’s name, title, degree abbreviations and schools, telephone number, campus or center, email, and sometimes a personal webpage. Email addresses replace the at sign with “(a).” Location deserves close attention. The same directory includes Elko Campus and regional centers such as Ely, Winnemucca, and Pahrump, so appearing on the directory does not by itself place someone in Elko.

The GBC Departments and Centers directory shows the organizational path visually:

That unit-based list is useful when only a field of study, program, or office is known. A missing phone, degree, or webpage means only that the field is absent from the entry.

Search Elko School Directories

The Elko County School District staff directory offers one optional field labeled “Search…” and tells visitors to filter by staff name. Results are paginated. Each entry may show a photo, full name, position title, department or school site, telephone number, and email. This makes the district directory a direct name route and a site-based roster when a school connection is already known.

A verified sample identifies Clayton Anderson as Superintendent Of Schools, assigns the Superintendent’s Office, supplies the district telephone number, and provides a district email. That sample shows which details can help distinguish a person from another name match. The central district address is 850 Elm Street, Elko, Nevada 89801, but each listing’s site field is the better location cue.

The ECSD name filter and results list preserve those fields in a compact format:

Search the full name first, then shorten it if punctuation, a middle initial, or a preferred first name prevents a match. Historical pupils and class groups belong in yearbooks and newspaper collections, not this current staff list.

Elko Government Directory Routes

Elko government directories are fragmented. The City does not publish a dense searchable staff database like GBC. Department pages, council rosters, boards and commissions, and agenda packets serve as the practical city directory. Those sources can identify officials, appointees, applicants, consultants, licensees, property parties, and speakers. Elko County likewise organizes names around departments, elected offices, and the records each office keeps.

Use the department main contact when an individual is absent from a roster. For an older packet or another existing city record that is not posted, describe the record, date range, address, or organization to the clerk. Nevada’s records law does not require staff to create a new name compilation or answer a broad research question. The complete access and request process belongs with Elko public records.

Use directories lawfully. Published names and official records may support family, property, civic, or consumer research, but never stalking, harassment, or harm.

Permits Form an Elko Directory

Building and planning files can act as address-first people directories. The City of Elko Public Information Search accepts Permit Type, Permit Number, or Service Address. An address choice must be selected from autocomplete. The separate Contractor Access route requires a username and password, so it should not be confused with the open issued-permit search.

The Elko issued-permit portal displays the public search choices:

A permit or related planning file may connect an address with an owner, applicant, contractor, notice, hearing, or signed application. The portal’s permit-type options, coverage start, result cap, and sample-result fields were not verified, so those details should not be assumed. If the address fails online, the Building Department accepts a narrow inquiry at 775-777-7220, Permits@elkocitynv.gov, or its 1751 College Avenue counter from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Three Eras in Elko Directories

Elko County’s creation in 1869 lines up with the Recorder’s oldest filed maps. That shared date provides a useful local records story. The web name index came much later, so a search method should change with the period rather than treat all directory years as equal.

  1. 1993 to the present: the Landmark name index and document images can work together for many recorded instruments.
  2. 1984 through 1992: names are indexed online, but an image may require the recorder’s counter or another copy channel.
  3. Before 1984: grantor and grantee books, maps, newspapers, yearbooks, archives, and library sources become the main fallback.

The Landmark Official Records Search treats parties to deeds, deeds of trust, liens, leases, and mining claims as a name directory. It also offers document, book and page, parcel ID, recording-date, instrument-number, consideration or tax-stamp, and legal-description routes. Filed maps extend from 1869 to the present, while mining-location maps are available from 2010 by document number.

These Elko directory dates are documented. No verified courthouse-fire loss, scanning-project date, or printed city-directory publisher run was found, so no such timeline should be inferred.

Elko Property Owner Directories

The Elko County Assessor Records Search functions as a current owner directory across parcel records, personal property records, and property tax records. Each category accepts an ID, name, or location query and suggests matches as text is entered. The county GIS provides an independent owner, street-address, or YPNO route. YPNO is the county’s parcel identifier and is the safest link among the assessor, tax, mapping, and recorder systems.

Situs address
The physical location assigned to the parcel or building.
Mailing address
Where tax correspondence goes, which may be a representative or an out-of-state address.
Legal description
The lot, block, subdivision, or metes-and-bounds text that identifies the land.
YPNO
The parcel key used to connect county land and tax records.

Selected GIS parcels can lead to assessment details, value, building facts, sales history, and plats. A map owner is not the same as an occupant, and a tax mailing address is not proof of residence. This matters across Elko County’s vast rural area, where an “Elko” mailing address may fall outside city limits and some ranch or mining land lacks a common street address.

Note: County parcel graphics can change and are not boundary surveys; use them as directory leads, then verify the linked record.

Elko Business and License Directories

The Nevada Business Search is the main official directory for entities and filing parties. Search modes include an entity name with Starts With, Contains, Exact Match, or All Words; Entity Number; Nevada Business ID Number; officer or organization; and Registered Agent Name. A detail can show entity name and ID, status, formation or filing dates, agent and address, officers or managers, filing history, mergers or conversions, document type, and filing date. An agent should not be treated as the owner without more evidence.

Professional directories remain board-specific. Nevada does not publish one complete umbrella license index. The Nevada professional licensing directory routes to the proper board for medical, nursing, contractor, real estate, cosmetology, engineering, surveying, and other credentials. The State Bar member directory accepts last name, bar number, company, or city. Contractor records separate a license search, listing search, and public disciplinary actions.

The Elko Area Chamber member directory adds keyword, category, and A to Z browsing. Its entries can include an organization, contact name and role, street and mailing addresses, website, phone fields, fax, membership year, contact form, and map. Those are member-supplied marketing details. Confirm legal control through Nevada filings, the relevant board, county DBA records, or a local business-license record.

Elko Unclaimed Property Lookup

Nevada’s official unclaimed-property program is another name-based directory for an Elko person or business. It can help when a dormant account or other property was turned over to the state under a past name or address. Search spelling variants and former names, then follow the state’s own claim process. A match shows that the state may hold property under that entry, not that every person with the same name is the owner.

The Nevada Treasurer Unclaimed Property gateway is the official starting point:

Use the official program to check a claimed identity and to avoid fee-based recovery solicitations that merely repackage a public lookup. For a business match, compare the entity name and filing details with the Nevada Business Search.

Historical Elko Directory Fallbacks

Historical Elko people directories are spread across digital collections and physical holdings. The Elko County Library genealogy collection describes yearbooks, newspaper archives, and oral-history projects. The Nevada Library Cooperative digital repository is the remote search and browse route. A surname search should be repeated with initials, spelling variants, a former address, a school, a business, and a mine or railroad name because old newspaper text can be misread by optical character recognition.

The Elko County Library genealogy collection identifies the local source base:

Elko people directories and genealogy collection at the county library

The collection can connect a person with a class year, relative, activity, obituary, legal notice, business, ranch, mine, or community event. For offline help, give staff a narrow name, date span, known address, and record type. Ask whether physical city or telephone directories, reverse or criss-cross volumes, newspaper microfilm, obituary files, and yearbooks cover the needed period. The exact shelf years for Elko city directories, reverse directories, and phone books were not published in the official online catalog material reviewed. They must be confirmed with the library, not invented. The Northeastern Nevada Museum is another fallback by appointment Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its archives report thousands of books, more than 50,000 photographs, newspapers dating to 1869, maps, documents, and local-government material. Earlier than 1869, also consider Lander County, territorial, and federal records because Elko County had not yet been formed.

Note: A reverse directory may identify an occupant at an address, while a deed identifies an owner; neither fact proves the other.
